Screen Caps of some scenes in the Big Picture, pointing to some of the transitions I’m more proud of within the animation.
So in improving my skills in After effects I found that this is something to avoid as much as possible.
This is the Small Actions animation, that as you can see got super complex looking because I rendered it using a single composition in after effects. I thought when starting this part of the project that wouldn’t be a problem due to this animation being a lot shorter than the Big Picture boy oh boy was I wrong, I managed anyway but figuring our ways to make smaller compositions and then work them into each other was going to be majorly important for the Big Picture animation.
In these screen caps you can see me learning to manage compositions better. The Big Picture animation was made using 6 compositions and honestly it could have easily been more. Trying to manage big messy After Effects folders with tonnes of layers is a nightmare and getting the hang of compositions really helped streamline the production process of the second animation.
The assets used in our big picture animation, a mixture of infographic style flat designs and collage to create a paper cut out effect, as though made from coloured paper clippings and photographs collaged together, this style is prevalent through all our designs for this project.
This is the final animation for the video focusing on small things everyone can do to help reduce paper waste(note it has no audio cause we don’t plan on using licensed audio and therefore couldn’t upload it to YouTube with audio attached). This video will be featured on the second page of our website and encourages reducing the amount of paper you use, recycling what you do use, and boycotting technology altogether when applicable.
This is our final animation for the video focusing on introducing our key ideas and facts to the audience(note it has no audio cause we don’t plan on using licensed audio and therefore couldn’t upload it to YouTube with audio attached). After effects is a long arduous process but I think I’m getting the hang of it to be honest which makes it kinda fun. This video will feature on the main/home page of our website.
